Wikipedia help please!!!!!!!?

there is a spelling error in a wikipedia entry. i clicked on "edit this page" on the top but it says that my ip range is blocked until the year 2013. i don't understand what that means. i have never written/edited a wiki entry before, why isn't it letting me? i thought everyone had access. Does anyone know what I should do???

Everyone within that IP range is blocked from editing for four more years. If you want to edit that page, go to another computer outside that specified range and edit it.

Most likely your IP range has been detected as an open proxy mistakenly or your ISP configured it incorrectly.

Put an unblock request on your talk page, like this:



{{Unblock|Reason why you should be unblocked}}



Give some details about your Internet Provider in the reason field.

Once again, we see how those with power and control on Wikipedia defend that hard-gained privilege. Not content to merely block editors who hold viewpoints they wish to silence, the admin classes take the next step and assume that ANYONE who uses that same IP address for a period of time is also likely to share "forbidden" viewpoints.



Recently, Wikipedia's community was in an uproar because a UK agency was limiting access to an exploitative photo of a pre-pubescent teen girl who was told to strip naked for a photographer, so that more record albums might be sold. Wikipedians weren't alerted to this image block because of complaints from any users. No, it came to their attention when their trusted Wikipedia-originating blocks of IP addresses were trapping too many innocent users in the net.



Wikipedians complain of "censorship" on the Internet, even while their governance and control systems have censorship practices at their very heart. You'll note the key sentence in the Wikinews article I cite:



"A serious side-effect of this is the inability of administrators on Wikimedia sites to block vandals and other troublemakers..."
