I went on reddit a few days ago to check out some interesting topics. Everything seemed normal, but today while I was looking something up on wikipedia I noticed that the Icon had changed to reddit's icon. I also noticed that when I went on gaiaonline that the Gaia icon had changed to the Imgur one. Is this some sort of bug? An advertising motive? I'm a little worried.

(Ignore Sir Caustic's answer, he often trolls the Wikipedia answers section). The only way a non-developer could change the logo is by changing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki.png And the page is currently full protected from editing, meaning that only administrators can edit the logo. As you can see in the file history, it hasn't been edited in well over a year anyway. Wikipedia is a non-profit organization run by the Wikimedia Foundation, so it can't be "bought out". I suspect the issue you are encountering may be the result of a browser caching errors. You could try clearing your browser cache. It is different for each browser, but there is a detailed Wikipedia page explaining the steps for each browser. The instructions can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache

It'a an advertising motive. Allegedly, Reddit recently bought Wikipedia, but in a vicious boardroom battle Wikipedia allegedly bought itself back, at a loss. Reddit took revenge by allegedly changing Wikipedia's icon to its own, which (quite rightly) worries some people. Same thing happened between Gaia and Imgur, allegedly. I suggest you email Wikipedia and ask them why they're allowing Reddit to mess with their icon. It shouldn't be allowed, should it? No. That's the answer to that question.

Alpha Quadrant knows what he is talking about, while Sir Caustic interjects his sense of humour here which iznclearly tongue-in-cheek when you consider his ID.

As long as Sir Caustic keeps his name and as long as we also get more substantial answers as well, I personally have no problem with the lighter tone he introduces to Answers.

Just my $.02
