I am wondering how I can make the amps like the ones you see on wikipedia? In case no one knows what I mean, this is the kind of map I am talking about.

The easiest solution if you've got quantitative data is probably the tool at < http://gunn.co.nz/map/ >.

If you have different needs, e.g. if you want to use vector graphics instead of bitmap, I suggest downloading and manually editing one of the blank maps from the blank-world-maps category on Wikimedia Commons: < http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Blank_maps_of_the_world >.

If you need a vector or bitmap graphics editor, try using one of the following free, open-source image editors:

• For bitmap images: GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) < http://www.gimp.org/ >

• For vector images: Inkscape < http://www.inkscape.org/ >

MyWIkiBiz, your "answer" is clearly wrong. If you don't know anything about the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP), then learn about it. It's an open source project.

Or, are you and your friends at Wikipedia Review so opposed to open-source, collaborative projects that you have to make cheap potshots at them? Why don't you go through the rest of the open-source software catalog and yell at people who use Eclipse (a Java development environment), XEmacs (the world's greatest text editor), or the whole Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP combination that powers a very big chunk of the world's web sites?

I think it's shameful that Nihiltres would be searching for "gimp"s. That's really insensitive to those with disabilities.
